Day 4

Eli is doing better day. Thank you for all of your prayers and positive thoughts for us. Yesterday morning we started giving him the anti-nausea medication and just normal children's Tylenol every 4 hours. It was pretty obvious that the heavy pain medication (and quite possibly the anesthesia) were making him really sick. I was worried that he would be in pain with just the normal children's Tylenol, but he seemed okay. Yesterday he vomited once and had a lot of diarrhea, but he drank about 10 oz of pedialyte.

For about 3 hours last night he would only sleep if we held him, but then finally he would let us put him down.

This morning he drank about 6 oz of formula and has kept it down so far - yay! He still has diarrhea, but I talked to the nurse this morning and I guess that is normal. He doesn't seem to be in pain, so I am so thankful for that.

He still hasn't smiled yet, but I guess that is to be expected.

So for today we are just hoping that he drinks and keeps it down and that the diarrhea subsides.

  1. Kristina,
Wow! I am in such disbelief. I am just so proud of you...you are such an amazing person and you are the Gold Standard of mothers. Clearly he is making progress if he is now doing okay on the tylenol. Candidly, I know the diarrhea sucks but given the pain meds it could have been constipation and that would have been way worse. Time heals all wounds--if only because your memory fades. Love you and give Eli a gentle hug and kiss from me! My heart goes out to you...

  2. Wonderful news, Kristina!!!! I'm so glad he's eating and able to keep it down a little better. And how wonderful that he's taking pedialyte....that will really help!! Know of my continued prayers. I wish I could be there to help. Hang in there sweet friend. It sounds like the road is getting a little less bumpy :)

  5. Glad he's feeling better Kristina. I've been thinking of you three all week. I'm really looking forward to seeing you and J and meeting the little guy next month. Eli is very lucky to have you two as parents.

    Love,

  6. Hi Kristina,

That's great news! I remember holding Maria quite a bit after her first surgery on 'little leg', too. Still praying for you guys!
