I meant to do a post when Eli turned 33 months last month, but it didn’t happen. He’ll be 34 months this coming Monday, so it is about time that I blog about my sweet boy.
At the end of last month we went to a festival in Marquette and Eli had butter pecan ice cream for the first time. Needless to say, he loved it! He is actually going through a bit of a picky food phase right now. His favorite things to eat are cheese & crackers, tomatoes, chips & guacamole, and peanut butter & jelly.
I would say his absolute favorite thing to do right now is walk. At least once a day we go on walks around our neighborhood and he walks like a big boy all by himself. He is fascinated by cars and likes to check out license plates, tires, etc. of each vehicle he sees. Many of our neighbors can’t wait to see Eli walking at night checking out the neighborhood cars. One kind neighbor even gave E his old license plate, because he knows how much E loves them!
Eli loves the water and loves to swim. We have been cooling off a bunch in our baby pool, and this past weekend we found an amazing little shallow part of Lake Superior were Eli had the time of his life! He was able to swim and get around without his old leggie on and seeing how happy he was made my entire summer.
E is completely into cars and anything with wheels right now. He is all about cars, trucks, construction vehicles, motorcycles, etc.
He still loves his books and here you see him at the 4th of July parade with his favorite truck book. Bless his heart he carried that book around with him for days. He still does every once and a while.
Also on 4th of July Eli got to ride a pony for the very first time. He was scared at first but then just loved it. Actually, I don’t know who enjoyed it more – Eli or me – I was just so happy seeing him light up like that.
Since this blog is really a record for my amazing children, I feel the need to record that a few weeks ago my sweet boy was diagnosed with a severe speech disorder. Finding out that he is not just a “late talker,” but rather unable to make his mouth move to get out all the wonderful words in his head has left me utterly heartbroken. I want to share this new journey in my blog for Eli. I want to have a record of all that he has been through and all that he has and will accomplish and overcome. At this time I feel more comfortable making the blog private, so if you would like to continue reading E’s story, please email me at kottenwess@gmail.com.
I think Eli will talk and find his words before the Speech Therapist thinks he will because I still believe in miracles. love, Grammy
