Grace is 3 months old

3mths4

My sweet girl turned 3 months old yesterday!  This has been a big month for Miss Grace.  I think the biggest accomplishment is that she is now sleeping in her crib at night, in her room and is sleeping through the night – yay!  She started sleeping through the night at around 10 weeks (just like Eli did) but would still occasionally wake up for a feeding here and there.  But it has been a week or more that she has slept straight through the night.  She falls asleep between 7 and 8 p.m. and wakes up between 6 and 6:30 a.m.  I am so proud of her.

She still loves her activity mat and her bouncy seat with lights, music and motion, but this past month we have also tried her Bumbo seat and activity center.  She is a little too small yet for the activity center, but loves her Bumbo seat.  She’ll sit in there in the playroom and watch her big brother play.

She is so incredibly smiley and coos and laughs a lot.  It is so darn cute!  She is a real charmer already.  She knows her Mama, Daddy and brother and loves smiling at all of us.  The other day I was playing with Eli and she was watching us with a big smile; it was so cute!

Everything is going really well except nap time.  Up until this past month Grace has napped in my Moby wrap carrier.  Well, once we set up the crib in her room I decided that I had to start trying to get her to sleep in her crib during the day.  I tried a few weeks ago and it did not go well.  Grace will be fed, changed and tired but if I put her down in her crib to sleep she screams and it is awful.  After the first attempt a few weeks ago I gave up.  I just couldn’t deal with the crying.  But I tried again this past week and it has gone a little better, but not that great.

At this point Grace doesn’t seem to be a big napper.  It seems she prefers a few short cat naps here and there, and really prefers to sleep in my arms.  She does so well at night, so I am thankful for that and am just going to keep trying with the naps.  She has slept a few times in her swing and anytime she falls asleep in the carrier I put her down in her crib.  Hopefully, in the next few months we’ll establish a good nap schedule.

Grace is getting big!   People make comments about her cheeks and one person even said that he had heard that Yooper babies are really big.  I told him that her brother was born in FL and he was big too.  I put away all of her 3-6 mth clothes today, and she is now wearing size 6 mth.

I just love my darling girl so much and am so glad that she is here and that she is mine.  Happy 3 months my baby girl!
