He is 27 months and I love him so much it actually hurts at times.
Here is what he is up to lately:
He favorite thing without a shadow of a doubt is reading. He loves to look at books/be read to all day long. We have books all throughout the house and he goes from book to book all day long. Sometimes he goes through phases where he doesn’t even want us to read to him, he just wants to look at them by himself. He memorizes his books and can recite the entire book. He usually wakes up in the morning or from his naps reciting his favorite book of the moment.
He also loves letters and numbers. Anything with “ABC’s” or counting (even addition and subtraction these days) fascinates him. The kid just absolutely loves to learn. It is all he wants to do. His appetite for learning is awesome to watch and I just pray that he never loses that desire.
He is a full fledged two year old and is constantly on the move. He goes from one thing, to the next, to the next, all day long! Hopefully following him around like this will help me lose my pregnancy weight!
He is still a very good sleeper – sleeping about 11 hours at night and taking a two hour nap on average.
We finally put away his high chair and now he eats at his “big boy table” or at the table in his booster seat. His favorite foods are any fruit (blueberries and pears are his favorites), tomatoes, rice & beans (still doesn’t eat much meat), peanut butter and jelly, eggs & sausage, guacamole & tortilla chips and raisin English muffins.
He has pretty much adjusted to his baby sister. He pretty much ignores her, but today he did rock her in her car seat and that was pretty cute! Every once in a while he’ll acknowledge her, but for the most part he just goes about his day and has accepted that she is right there along with us. He rarely cries when she cries these days and hardly has any tantrums anymore.
Eli picks up after himself now (with prompting of course) and this is huge! We finally have taught him the concept of picking up and try to do it throughout the day. He gets really excited when we cheer for him and give him high fives!
He is a super funny guy. He says things in silly voices and loves to be tickled.
He is talking up a storm and repeats almost everything we say. So often I’ll talk to him about something and then a day later or so he is saying everything that I told him.
He has become much more aware of his body. I’ve noticed him looking at his legs and touching his left shin and then his leggie on his right leg. He’ll touch his foot and then his heel pad and say each one by name (we call his right leg his “leg” and the end of it his “heal pad” because that is what it is ). I know that he knows that there is something different going on there, he just doesn’t have the ability to communicate it yet. That is definitely on the horizon for us soon.
He is really growing up so fast and quickly becoming a little boy.
He is such an amazing little boy and I am so incredibly blessed that he is mine.
Really great blog, Kristina.
ReplyDeleteI went to School with Jared in Portage, MI (or Jed as we called him). For some reason Jed popped into my head the other day so I thought I'd look him up to see how he's doing. Your son is adorable.
Anyway, tell Jared I say hi.
