It has been way too long since I have updated the blog, so I am forcing myself to take a few minutes from all that I have going on and share some updates.
The Move
Three weeks ago today the movers came to our Florida house and packed everything up in the huge semi truck. I can’t believe it has only been three weeks, because it feels like ages ago! The next day Eli and I flew into Detroit and spent the week with family until Jered came down on Saturday to pick us up. Eli was great on the plane. He slept on the first flight and ate, watched Elmo and read on the 2nd flight. We had a great time in Detroit, despite Eli falling off a bed and getting a black eye and a cut lip, falling on cement and cutting his lip again and then waking up with a fever Saturday right before Jered came.
It was so amazing to see Jered again. I pray that we don’t ever have to be apart for 3 months again. I didn’t realize how hard it was until we were reunited. We spent the weekend at Jered’s parents house and Eli was still not feeling well. He was feverish, not eating well and really clinging, but hanging in there.
On Sunday night we drove the 7 hours up north to the Upper Peninsula (our new home) and Eli was not doing well in the car. He barely slept Sunday night and Monday and Tuesday were some of the hardest days I have had (close 2nd to his surgery). The poor baby was so sick and had a terrible cough. We took him to the pediatrician Tuesday and he was diagnosed with the croup. He was sick for about a total of 8 days and didn’t eat for almost 5 days!!! I was beside myself with worry…it was really rough. Thankfully he is much better now and pretty much back to normal, except he still doesn’t really want much milk.
Oh and then as soon as he was getting better, I of course got sick and have been for over a week now!
The House
Once we are unpacked and settled (which is going to take a while) I will do a full post on the house. For now I will just say that we love it and it feels so much more like home than our FL house ever did. We have a lot of work to do, but we are home and it feels so good.
We are also enjoying being back in Michigan. Today the high is 64 degrees, and I am really enjoying it. I do not miss the 95 degree FL heat at all. I did ask Jered this morning when will it get hot out so we can wear shorts and go swimming and he said “maybe” in July. So we’ll see how it goes.
Eli
Eli is super cute and I need to work on a 21 mth old post for next week. He is saying the cutest things like, “Hi Baby” to Jered and I. I always say that to him and so now he says it to us and we just melt. He asks for food by saying, “More raisins please,” etc. And much to our delight last night at dinner he said, “Go Blue!”
He is completey into numbers and the alphabet. He knows his ABCs and can count to 30. He spots words everywhere and always wants us to spell things out for him. His latest thing is when we read to him, he will grab my finger and point to the word – this means he wants me to spell the word for him.
Baby Girl
I have an OB apt. this morning, so I will do a full pregnancy update post (complete with a picture) this week. I have started to feel her move, which is great. Other than that, I am feeling fine and just really hungry. We are 95% decided on her name.
Stay tuned!
