31 weeks

I will officially be 31 weeks this Thursday and had an apt. with Dr. Marichal today. Everything went well, except for the fact that I gained A LOT of weight! I am pretty discouraged about it, and Dr. Marichal is a bit concerned (not for Eli but for my post - pregnancy weight loss). I am just baffled as to how I gained 8 lbs in 3 weeks! I was out of town for work last week and I do tend to gain weight in general when I travel for work, but oh my goodness!

I am measuring at almost 33 weeks - so the good news is that Eli is growing big! His heartbeat was in the 130s and Dr. Marichal said it sounded good. I had tons of questions, but my biggest concern was whether or not Eli is moving "enough." Dr. Marichal said that it is hard with your first pregnancy, because you have nothing to compare it to. He definitely moves daily (thank God) but I sometimes worry/wonder whether or not it is a healthy amount of movement. My mom told me that when she was pregnant with me I was not as active as my brother and sister (and it was the same way as a baby), so I kind of think he is just like me ;)

My next appointment is August 11th so Dr. Marichal is okay with not seeing me for 3 weeks. Jered and I have our newborn care class tonight, infant cpr on Friday and our long awaited apt. with Dr. Woo next Tuesday, so many updates coming soon!

  1. I worried all th etime about movement, in fact I went many times for a fetal heartbeat check. I think it's just part of becomming a mom, so much to worry about. Im glad you are doing well. I gain 11 pounds is 3.5 weeks, so dont worry.

  2. Oh the worry of the first pregnancy! As for weight issues I was HUGE with both my pregnancies I gained 46 lbs with Emma and 61.6lbs with P & G, I was quite often mistaken for a beached whale!!! Don't worry, the weight does come off but you have to work at it. As for movement I think Emma was quite active but with the twins I didn't feel much as there was no room for them to move, however I was more relaxed second time round. I am sure you are doing great!
