Memorial Day Weekend

This past weekend my brother Tommy and my Dad came to visit us. It was the first time Tommy had ever been to visit us in Gainesville and the first time my Dad had visited us since we have been in our house. They both arrived Friday (5/23) in the evening and we got take out from Newberry's Backyard BBQ - one of the only restaurants in Newberry.

Saturday we went to Trenton for breakfast so they could get a feel of where Jered works. After that we headed to Home Depot to get tools so that my Dad could help Jered replace some rotted wood on the exterior of our house. While they worked on that for a few hours Tommy and I went to Kmart and Publix to get some things for our beach trip the following day. That night we all went to Satchel's in Gainesville for dinner and then watched the Pistons and Red Wings game when we got home.

Sunday we headed to Matanza's beach in St. Augustine. The four of us plus the dogs had a great time. We were there most of the day and then had dinner in St. Augustine and A1A Brewery. When we got home my Dad took a nap and Jered, Tommy and I played Scattegories.

On Monday Tommy and I went to Sports Authority to get him some shirts while my Dad and Jered finished the project on the outside of the house. We went into Gainesville for lunch at Burrito Brothers and then my Dad and I took Tommy to the airport.

It was such a good weekend and really lifted our spirits. I just wish that we could see my Dad and Brother (and rest of the family) more than a few times a year.
