Something really interesting happened yesterday as I was waiting to see the doctor at my appointment yesterday. In the waiting room there was a pregnant woman with two other family members and she just had her 20 week ultrasound and found out she was having a boy. Well I am not exaggerating when I say that she, along with her relatives, were devastated. Apparently she already had two boys and they were all really hoping this one was a girl. Seriously, they were going on and on about how upset they were that they were having another boy. I was trying to keep my cool and thought about saying something to them like, "Why can't you just be thankful that you are having a healthy child?"
But instead of getting all upset I suddenly felt at peace. I guess I just realized that I was so thankful that this soul that Jered and I are about to meet, was given to us and not them. I mean if they were reacting like that because the baby was a boy, just imagine how they would have reacted if they found out the baby had FH, or something worse.
When we first found out about Eli's leg a lot of people told us that it was a good thing that Jered and I were chosen to raise this baby. Early on those words were not comforting to me, but now I think I am starting to get it and I am really grateful for that.
Eli is so lucky to have you both, and you lucky to have him. It's a pity everyone cant have the chance we have been given to really stop and see what is important in life, and to appreciate everyone and every milestone. People often think you just get things in life, like legs, eyes, ability to eat etc. Wow, to be upset by gender though!!

Kristina I am still asked after three children when are we trying for a boy!!! I just look at them in disbelief. We are so happy with three girls, but if it had been three boys we would have been just as happy! We are just so grateful that they are healthy, happy and Paddy's leg is just one of those blips in life that we are getting through! I just love them all so much and I wouldn't change anything, some people just don't get the important things in life!
