30 weeks

DSC_0003 DSC_0005

Here are some self portraits of me at 30 weeks early this morning before I left for my OB apt.  I saw a new OB who was young and really friendly.  I liked her a lot, but the appointment did not go too well.  My blood pressure was slightly high and there was a small amount of protein in my urine.  I guess anyone can “spill” a bit of protein in their urine, but it is a big red flag when you are pregnant and also have high blood pressure.  She wasn’t too worried about what she saw today, as it was minor, but they do want to watch me very closely from here on out.

Next week I will have an ultrasound to check on fetal growth and the placenta (things they worry about when you have high blood pressure).  Then they want me to have ultrasounds every 2 weeks after that from here on out.

I go back for my next OB apt. in two weeks and then they will also do a NST (non stress test) to check on the baby.  The OB I saw today told me she would like me to get NSTs done weekly starting in two weeks.

So if you are keeping track, that is an OB apt. every two weeks, an ultrasound apt. (different location) every two weeks, and then a NST every week.  I am all about doing everything that needs to be done to make sure the baby is healthy, but that just seems a bit excessive to me.  It is especially hard because I can’t really bring Eli to ultrasounds or the NSTs (you have to lie still for 30 minutes while they hook you up to the fetal monitor).  I am going to see how the ultrasound and 1st NST go, and then ask if I can cut back on some of this a bit.

Other than that I am HUGE!  You can get really get the full effect from the above pictures, but let’s just say it is not pretty.  I am feeling fine; just tired and ravenous!!!  Our guest room is full of bins of Eli’s baby clothes and baby girl clothes that a sweet friend has given to me.  I am planning on going through everything Labor Day weekend and seeing what I still need to buy.

I am having a c-section and it’ll likely be when I am 39 weeks.  9 weeks still seems like so far away, but considering all that I have to get done by then, I need all the time I can get.

  1. You look absolutely beautiful, my friend! Sorry to hear about the blood pressure and protein. Try to take it easy and get as much rest as you can. Hope you're still enjoying Michigan!!!!
