18 weeks

So I am extremely late on keeping my pregnancy journal but I guess its never too late to start, right? I think my vision for this journal is to record milestones, happenings and just how I feel in general throughout this pregnancy. I hope it would evolve into a letter to my child so that one day he or she can read it to get an idea as to what was going on during my pregnancy.

First I'll start off by recapping the past 18 weeks:
  • Saturday, January 26th - took first (of many) pregnancy test and it was positive!
  • Tuesday, February 12th - first ob apt. with midwife (found out I couldn't see midwife b/c of preexisting hypertension). Got slip to go to lab to have blood work done and not much else. Very uneventful.
  • Wednesday, March 12th - 2nd apt. (first with Dr. Marichal). I loved Dr. Marichal. He is Puertorican and very friendly! I asked him about the possibility of twins and he did a quick screening ultrasound that verified there was only one baby. The baby looked like a gerbil and I was freaked out.
  • After my 12 week apt. I officially told family and friends.
  • Wednesday, April 9th - 16 week apt. Jered came with me and we got to hear the heartbeat. Dr. Marichal guessed it was a boy. I got a lab slip to do the quad screen and went that Friday (April 11th).
That is a very brief overview of what's been going on so far. Our next apt. is Tuesday, May 6th and that is when we have the big ultrasound to find out if it is a boy or a girl. I feel very strongly that we are having a boy. For the past month (or maybe even longer) we have been calling the baby "Fetus" or "Fety" and so it'll be nice to know who is in there. I am still nervous that God forbid something is wrong, so I am really looking forward to having the ultrasound and just hearing that we have a healthy baby. Only 12 more days to go!
